Hello!
Welcome to my teaching blog! Here, I am writing about my quest to become a welcoming and content-savvy educator in Seattle. My focus is on equity and identity-safe classrooms.
I have been an educator since 2007, when I began working part-time as childcare assistant teacher. After a lackluster career switch to massage therapy, education called me back. My elementary teaching career began in 2017. I’m certificated in Washington state with an endorsement in Early Childhood Education. While I have a Master of Education from Arizona State University, my BS is in Television and Radio Production from Ithaca College! I’m full of surprises.
I am from upstate New York, and have called Seattle home since 2006. Occasionally, you may hear me say, “wicked” and maintain that thin-crust pizza is THE ONLY pizza. I can technically include “LMT” after my name, but haven’t practiced massage since 2017. I’m wobbly on skates, grunt loudly when weightlifting, and run at the end of hikes to enjoy sitting in the car more quickly.
I will edit my posts for grammar and spelling. Should I use a term that later becomes outdated, I shall leave it for transparency.
